Classroom assessment is an approach designed to help teachers find out what students are learning in the classroom and how well they are learning. An approach that is learner-centered, teacher-directed, mutually beneficial, formative, context specific, ongoing, and firmly rooted in good practice. Why? To empower both the teachers and their students to improve the quality of learning in the classroom (Angelo & Cross, 1993).
Purpose of Evaluation
Nine reasons why Instructors should evaluate is to, compare actual learner performance to the goals of the instruction, to help learners make decisions about their next action, to monitor students’ ongoing progress, to assess the teaching methods, to revise the program, to provide information for other stakeholders, to assess a learner’s background knowledge, to determine satisfaction, and to develop self-assessment in learners (Fenwick & Parsons, 2009).
